Welcome to the website for the Turgwe Hippo Trust in Zimbabwe.

We are dedicated to the conservation and protection of these Turgwe Hippos. They live within the Save Valley Conservancy in the south east Lowveld of Zimbabwe. Since we saved their lives back in the horrendous drought of 1991/92 we have continued to safeguard these wonderful animals......read more.

Bob hippo was the dominant bull when I arrived here in 1990. It was through knowing Bob and learning from Bob about hippos that all of the projects that this Trust has achieved, and everything that has happened here occurred. Bob taught me and allowed me into his space. A wild African Hippo bull let a human female be part of his daily life.
